The Briefing

A communications function of one, built to move like a team.

I've spent over a decade doing the job most companies wait too long to hire for: building the communications function from scratch, alone, and running it like an org twice the size. At Convera, MariaDB, WePay (a Chase company) and Cloudmark, Inc., I was the first — and often only — communications hire, responsible for everything from corporate narrative and media relations to executive prep and crisis response.

That means there's barely any ramp-up time. I already know how to set priorities without a team behind me, get an executive interview-ready in a day, and build the fact sheets, messaging, and press processes that let a company scale its voice without scaling headcount.

My background is deepest in fintech, payments, and enterprise software — including regulated and newly public environments — but the muscle transfers: global PR agency management, C-suite ghostwriting, and issues communications don't change much by category.

I'm now taking on a small number of fractional, interim, and project-based engagements, for companies that need senior communications judgment without — or before — a full-time hire.

What I Can Own For You

Senior-level communications, without the full-time headcount.

Corporate Narrative & Messaging

The core story: fact sheets, positioning, and key messages that hold up across press, customers, and internal audiences.

Executive Communications

Ghostwriting, media training, talk tracks, and briefing prep that get a founder or leadership team interview-ready.

Media & Analyst Relations

Proactive pitching, press strategy, and agency management across North America, EMEA, and APAC.

Crisis & Issues Communications

Reactive protocols, message discipline, and cross-functional coordination for the moments that matter most.

Integrated Campaigns

Not a marketing generalist by training, but I think past the press release — pairing earned media with content, social, and demand-gen so a campaign compounds instead of landing once.

PR Program Build-Out

Stand up the function from zero — process, cadence, KPIs, and agency selection — for a team that's never had comms.

Content & Thought Leadership

Bylines, LinkedIn strategy, award and speaking submissions, and customer storytelling that compounds over time.

How We Could Work Together

Three ways to bring me in.

Ongoing

Fractional / Retainer

Part-time senior comms leadership on a recurring basis — for teams that need judgment and consistency without a full-time seat.

Defined Scope

Project-Based

A specific deliverable: a narrative rebuild, a launch, an agency search, a crisis playbook, or a comms audit.

Full-Time Coverage

Interim / Embedded

Hands-on coverage during a leadership gap, a fundraising push, or a critical growth stretch.
